Overview
JEF asked me and a collegue to create an interactive installation for the Youth Film Festival in Antwerp. The rules were simple: make sure it's connected to film culture, and use a special controller. My teammate and me opted to use a gyroscape in a yoga balance ball. This serves as the controller for our game. The game itself is based of the lore of aliens abducting cows, a cliché tale. I was the developer on this project, while my teammate was the 3D artist and designer.
Build
This project wa build using Babylon.js which is a 3D game engine for in browser games. All assets are made in Blender, as well as the animation videos. We used a BLE gyroscope as the controller, meaning that it is connected through bluetooth. By leaning with the yoga ball the gyroscope's axis values change, these values are used to calculate the movement of the rocketship in-game.
Result
Both my teammate and me are really proud on this instalation, we worked hard and the results were delivered. The installation proved to be a succes, securing 2 more spots on different events, one in Waregem and one in Mortsel!
